Jennifer Perlette Dossett
New York State Licensed Massage Therapist
A native of the Buffalo area, I grew up in Cheektowaga, graduating from Cleveland Hill in 1998. I continued my education and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2002 from Canisius College for Digital Media Arts (concentration in design). With this first degree, I worked for Xerox for 8 years (2004-2012) within the Kaleida Health System, designing and managing documents. While working for Xerox, I decided to go back to school part time for Massage Therapy in 2008. In October 2010, I graduated from the New York Institute of Massage, and in February 2011 received my NYS License to practice Massage Therapy. Since May 2012, I have been a full time Massage Therapist, establishing my DBA as Massage By JP. May 2012 through January 2014 I was an independent contractor within the Mineral Springs Chiropractic & Massage Therapy office in West Seneca, NY. January 2014, I began a new adventure working with Dr Craig Horner, as an independent contractor in his office, Seneca Springs in West Seneca.
I love the pool, and was a competitive swimmer through middle school, high school, and college. My love of swimming carried with me beyond my competitive years and let me pass my knowledge onto young and old through lifeguarding, teaching and coaching with both Amherst Swim Team (youth club team) and Williamsville Community Education. As of April 2014, I no longer was a full time instructor, and after my sons birth in 2015, I temporarily hung up my goggles to spend my time with him through the young impressionable years. Who knows what the future may hold, but I have a feeling I'll be teaching in the pool again down the road.
Family is the most important thing to me. I am grateful that I found a career that I love and gives me the flexibility to spend the time with those that I care about. At this time I cannot imagine doing anything else.
As far as my future in Massage Therapy, I will continue to educate myself in techniques and modalities of my interest and build on my experience with every client that I place my hands on. I am hopeful that someday in the future I can make my dream a reality and open a Holistic Center that will have a variety of providers, teachers, classes, and facilities for families seeking to be healthy and happy.
